“Is $40 too much to pay for a 5K?"
This December (2011),
I asked my Facebook friends this question “Is $40
too much to pay for a 5K?
I received 75 replies in two days…overwhelmingly by “yes” …Here are the other

way too much
My husband likes to ask what the going rate is to run
three miles. He would freak if I said $40! :)

Was Groundhog that much last year? That's not even
including the processing fees. |

Actually,the only way I can
see that a 5K should cost that much is if they're giving away nice finishers'
medals to EVERYONE.

Yes! The cost of most road races has gotten to the point
that I no longer can support them every weekend like I used to do. I pick and
choose based on the charity involved, convenience, and hospitality.

I would say so

For me, yes it is. But I can see as a race becomes more popular the price going
up. I noticed an increase in a race I did last year and looking ahead I saw
that $40 price tag on a 5K coming up.
If the race can still fill up with the higher price which in turn raises more money
for the charity then great.
But me? I'll pick two other races to do for that price
or just go run by myself.
It's true for me like some of the other comments - I can do a half marathon for
that price and it does feel like I'm paying $40 for a training run with a 5K."

I think it is and that is the reason why I decided not to
do the Ground Hog Run.
